1. "Semi metal" hybrid brake pads.

Semi metal brake pad (semi met) mainly uses rough steel wool as reinforcement fiber and important mixture. Asbestos type and non asbestos organic brake pads (NAO) can be easily distinguished from each other in appearance (fine fibers and particles). In addition, they have certain magnetism.

The main advantages of semi met brake pads are its temperature control ability and higher braking temperature. Compared with asbestos type brake pads, semi met has poor heat transfer performance and poor cooling capacity of brake disc and brake drum. They help brake disc and brake drum to dissipate heat from their surface and transfer heat to brake caliper and its components. Of course, if the heat is not handled properly, the temperature of the brake fluid will rise after being heated. If the temperature reaches a certain level, it will cause the brake to shrink and the brake fluid will boil. This heat also has a certain impact on the brake caliper, piston seal ring and return spring, which will accelerate the aging of these components. This is also the reason why the brake caliper should be reassembled and metal parts should be replaced during brake maintenance.

2. Special fiber type.

The new high-tech products developed in the 21st century are green environmental protection products. It has high temperature resistance, good thermal degradation resistance, stable friction coefficient, no rust on the brake disc, small wear on the brake disc, self wear resistance, long service life, easy running in and smooth braking. But its raw materials are expensive. The production process is complex and the product cost is high. From the comprehensive cost point of view, special fiber brake pads are much lower, which will be a major trend of brake pad materials in the future.
